This blog is based on chapter 5 and the state of nature vs nurture. This is an age old development and one that is plain to see. This photo depicts nature as the real hold on life and nurture is this idea that we install into ones life. Granted no one is born hating or loving. However, there are age old devices that people are born with. The same reason why males tend to be more aggressive is the testosterone they are born with. That clearly is not nurture and same goes for women that have the more motherly tendency because they actually give birth. It is not saying that nature is useless that is what makes you who you are. You are born with gifts and talents and many people die with them. It takes the nurture of a parent or in some cases society to install a sense of morals and principles that guides ones life. Without one or the other humans would be lost in the animal kingdom. There is a quite that is given by Theodore Roosevelt that states, " It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat." This statement is very powerful because it cases that an individual has to have something inside of them telling them to continue. Otherwise, nature will destroy them. They will not be able to succeed in life. However, that strength comes from when a person is born. It is up to nurture to bring that out of someone. The thing that tells us to continue when life throughs us curve balls and diversities. All and all we as human beings are responsible in our life. Nature is the key element and think of it as the pinochle in peoples lives. The nature is what molds the dough. Eventually as we get older it hardens and we become set in our ways. Then not nature or nurture will matter. The key is able to prolong that hardening from happening. Hopefully so that we can become something magnanimous. Life only gives you one shot and to blame one or the other is preposterous. You have to grab life by the horns as they say and use what you can while you have. To often do people get nocked down and even though they know they have to get back up they will lay there. Then drag anyone down who is near them. That is not a productive society.
