Racial Conflict and the Integrity of an Inter-Racial Family

Social-Conflict
is one of the main frameworks of Sociology that expresses the need for unity and
the necessity for change in today’s society. There are many controversies regarding
this topic of interest, but it is hard to say that there will be a true substantial
change in this society. Many stereotypes that derive from many races, and cultures
cause people to put up a wall to understanding an individual as an equal.
One
of the many issues in today's world, that no one wishes to discuss, would be the
conflict of racism. Racism does, in fact, still exist and most likely will survive
for the rest of mankind. People cannot help to judge on the first appearance and
impression of different kinds
of people. However, in some cases there are people that do not see the different
colors in their faces. Fifteen percent of this nation is, in fact, in an interracial
relationship. There are people that fall in love with each other no matter their
background and live a happy and loving life. These people that throw racism out
of the door do get judged for their actions. Interracial couples go through many
prejudices throughout their relationship. There are many stories and examples regarding
current relationships that go through hardships and forms of racism. Many
prejudiced people in this country do understand that there are couples in this country
that have different backgrounds and still accept each other due to the love that
they share. Ignorance is clearly prevalent in this nation, which makes people to
deny the true feelings that they may have for a significant other based on what
society thinks of the conjoined races.
More
people are coming to acknowledge interracial couples, but when the conflict comes
within their own family, it becomes a harder thing to accept. Families always wish
to carry on their legacy of what their ancestors started, but when a different race comes into the mix, big problems arise.
What people do not understand is the endless possibilities of knowledge that could
be achieved by accepting different races into this society. Much can be achieved,
and a greater sense of unity can be accomplished in this nation. Individuals are
able to gain personal growth and be more conscious of the world around them. In
order to make an interracial couple work there would need to be a mutual
agreement and dedication to learn everything about each other. An inter-racial
couple has to find solace in each other when going through times of turmoil. When
a couple’s family excludes them due to the significant other, this is when times
get had and a split in the family becomes evident. The most controversial thing
that could happen is when the couple produces offspring.
When
children are produced, that is when a family truly becomes united and concrete.
The children of an interracial couple go through the most trouble growing up. Schools,
friends, family, and other people in society make things difficult for children
of diverse races. Mixed children
are often cut off from distant family, and they are unable to engage in the relationships
that a large typical same race family would have with each other. Children are unable
to interact with cousins, aunt, uncles, and even grandparents, which forces children
to only have close contact with their immediate family. Children must be educated
that they are different not by their choice, but simply because that is just they
way they were brought into this world.
Love
comes in many different colors, and it comes from the most unexpected places. Love
simply cannot be planned, and it is a beautiful thing to see the mix of many
cultures that comes together
as a family and a community. These couples have the strongest bond and unity over
most people. They put aside their differences and accept the reality of the diversion
that pulls them apart. Courage and love are key elements to have in all relationships
because they have to ignore their separations and live in unity for the remainder
of their lives. Love is what brings people together and keeps them together. Everyone
needs to learn this lesson: We are all people that need to unite and stick together,
because we are all one race: Mankind.
