What does you Gender say about you?

What does your Gender say about you?

My whole life I was never really a “girly girl” I hate the color pink, I rather play sports then go shopping, and I rather hang out with the boys then hang out with girls. In the book it explains that girls play sports too but they usually play sports that are different then male sports. To me as a kid I would always get mad especially at recess. I can play whatever the boys play and I don’t need the rules changed because now a girl is playing. A lot of people think that this is differently though, because a girl is playing now they have to make the game easier, or safer which I don’t see how that’s fair at all. I always call myself my dad’s son. Since he only has two daughters someone has to be the one who plays sports with him, look at cars, and go fishing with. My sister was the complete opposite then me. She wasn’t all about that stuff which is fine, but she always thought it wasn’t right that I liked those kinds of things. Since I’m a girl I can’t love looking at cars or things guys like to do. This is how most of the society sees it as well. Boys can’t play with dolls, or sing, or like the color pink. It’s the same thing. The role that society puts on being a female or male is wrong.  I took a look at this article online that was talked about what girls don’t have to like just because they are a girl. I really enjoyed it because it really talked about the stereotype gender things. When people see a newborn baby, yes I agree that it is hard to tell sometimes is it a boy or girl? Just because it has a blue blanket or green however doesn’t mean it is definitely a boy.  In the book it says that parents hope their first child is a boy and not a girl.  They think because the are having one or the other they have to have a boy that is all about blue and boy things or if it’s a girl all about pink and girl things. Let the children grow up how they want to and with what things they like. When I went to look for another article to add I realized something else about gender when looking in Google. I noticed all these quizzes that have to do with being female or being male. Like quizzes like how to tell if you are a real girl or a real boy. Why should one quiz determine what your gender is. You as a person determine that and just because you may like blue more than pink doesn’t mean that you should be the other gender. I think that gender inequality and problems are going to be around for a very long time. There will always be someone that thinks girls shouldn’t be allowed to play sports or girls shouldn’t be allowed at a car show. But hopefully society can change and accept people for who they are one day.
