No Justice, No peace

Whenever I turn to the news it is always something bad going on. Black men being killed by police has been a major thing on many new channels. Some say that the police are just doing their “jobs.” Maybe so but police are here to serve and protect so why are many of them killing people they are being paid to protect? Many are abusing their power and do not care whom their egos go after, but it seem like their target practice of choice is black men/people. The police brutality of this generation is starting to remind the African American community of the brutality in the 50s. People have always said that history repeats itself.

There is police brutality is all over America happening to every race but the ones that are on the news seem to show more minorities rather than whites. So is it race or media? If it is race how long has police brutality been going on? If it is the media why start it all now? Minorities have never truly been protected by police especially in the “ghetto.” So why is the police brutality come as such a surprise? I feel that it is a combinations of both racism and the media putting more stories out. Police brutality has always been around and I think people are just noticing more, well white people. I’m sure the people who have been going through the injustice for 100s of years know the pain all too well.

I was watching a news interview with a black man. The man knew many of the ku klax klan members. The man spoke on how a lot of the members were police officers, firefighter, and even city officials. This was normal in the 30s, 40s, and 50s but now in the 21st century it is known that it is wrong. In those days it was wrong too but people expected it but through social movements it was no longer a norm. People started to understand how immoral it was. Movements like the Civil Rights made that possible. The injustice now is creating movements all across the country. People are becoming angry. The riots in Baltimore is a perfect example. A man was unlawfully arrested and then killed.  The people of Baltimore both white and black want justice for the death of the young man. Many of the killings by polices are of black males from low incomes.

Is this a way to keep society in line? Keep black people down to play their race role. Also the reason there are more black males being killed than females is because males are more of a threat. The old stereotype that men are stronger than women. This is also an inequality matter as you can see. Structural function would say that this is good for society and is working to keep society and the economy afloat. This theory is happy that history is repeating itself.
