When you think of the word sex what comes to your mind? Do you think of it as something that is an special thing to share between you and someone you love? Or do you think of it as something that just simply feels good? The way your mind works when you think about sex might tell a lot about the time you were raised in. The way people think of sex today is not the same as our grandparents might have looked at it. The word sex does not necessarily hold the same meaning and value that it used to a long time ago. Sex used to be something that was considered special and sacred between two people that loved each other. Now people are throwing sex around to any and everybody like it’s nothing. Today sex has an completely different meaning and I am going to tell you how. Having sex outside of marriage was largely condemned at one point in time, it probably still is but this doesn't stop more and more people from adultery. An girl having her virginity at the time she was getting married was something that was once considered very important and also sacred. Now, most teens today are engaging in sexual activity by the end of their high school career. This means that teenagers are having sex before they are even married and settle down. Sex before marriage is another thing that was looked down upon, but nowadays this seems to be the norm for society. Sex was also something that was supposed to be kept private between an couple. Due to the fact that there are so many young teenagers who are having sex at an early age, people’s business tend to get out in the open because some teens are not mature enough to be engaging in sexual relations with someone. Teenage pregnancies is also an effect of premarital sex. Most teens that get pregnant today did not plan to, the most that they were planning to do was “get an quick feel”. This new “sex” has not only lost its value and meaning but people are also beginning to become careless when it comes to things such as sexually transmitted diseases. In this day and age or is very important that partners know about each other's sexual history. Cases of HIV and AIDS are gradually growing everyday which unfortunately another effect due to society's new meaning of sex. Many things that were once looked down upon are now largely accepted in today's society. Sex is now simply exactly what it says, sex. It's not something that that is shared when a couple decides to get married and spend the rest of their lives with each other, it's not something that is considered to be special and sacred between two people that are income with each other. Sex is sex, not in all cases but in many. Society should take a step back and look at how far away we have drifted from our original values and morals when it comes to sex. I am not saying that everyone should lock on a chastity belt and never have sex, but what I am saying is that people have to make better decisions an learn to respect themselves.
