Has Urbanization greatly affected the U.S.

                              

Urbanization is the concentration of populations into cities. In the U.S. today the population is growing by the second, and urbanization is becoming more popular. There is much fertility, mortality and migration going on every day that affect the population. Cities are becoming overcrowded, making them an awful place to live. Coming from experience, where i live, urbanization grew quickly. My hometown of Plainfield was a very small town when I was little. But, as I got older so did my town. It became busier. More and more people started to move there. It wasn't just cornfields anymore. It was houses, businesses and so much more. Today, I feel like its so crowded it could be like a big city like Chicago one day. The urbanization of cities has just become popular in the last thousand years. It seems like a long time, but it’s actually not.

Most people argue if there has been a noticeable change in rural areas. In fact 75 percent of the United States is rural areas. Even though there is a large increase of urban areas I still think rural areas take the cake in the United States. But, my hometown was definitely a rural area at one point in time, and it was definitely affected by urbanization. 

Another factor that contributes the the research that urbanization has definitely effected the U.S. is just looking at the land. To use my example of my hometown again, it isn't just cornfields and lakes for miles anymore. it stores, houses, businesses, etc.
Urbanization HAS affected us. But there are still things we can do to make a sustainable society and world. A simple answer to this problem is, to make an ecologically sustainable culture. That means, a way of life that meets the needs of the present generation without threatening the environmental legacy of future generations. Everyone can take a part in this, even myself. Use less, conserve more. You can do that in your local town. Reduce waste and everything else that is bad for the earth and its environment. If we all work together we can make Urbanization into a really good thing.
